Dermal fillers and injectables are among the most popular treatments available at Dr. Silverstein's practice because they are an effective alternative to surgical procedures. Treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Radiesse®, can rejuvenate the skin by dramatically reducing signs of aging, while simultaneously firming and adding volume. Injectables are administered in one easy office visit, are relatively pain-free, and require little to no recovery time. While these treatments serve the same purpose, each works in a unique way and has its own benefits. BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is perhaps the most widely known injectable treatment offered at our Oklahoma City practice. Dr. Silverstein injects this product, a purified form of botulinum toxin A, directly into the muscles of the face. BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA-approved and works to block signals to the muscles that cause contractions, therefore reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It is especially effective on "crow's feet" and the area between the brows. While the treatment can be completed in just 10 minutes, results can be seen for up to four months.
Juvéderm®
Hyaluronic acid is largely responsible for keeping the skin hydrated and healthy, but it can diminish over time. When injected just below the skin's surface, Juvéderm® replaces this acid to restore the skin's volume and elasticity. This facial treatment replenishes volume, and results in smoother, more youthful-looking skin. It can be used to treat a number of cosmetic flaws including smile, lip, and marionette lines. After just one treatment at Dr. Silverstein's practice, patients can experience the benefits of Juvéderm® for up to a full year.
Restylane®
Restylane® is similar to Juvéderm® in that it uses hyaluronic acid as a key ingredient to smooth away facial folds and wrinkles. It is particularly helpful in reducing the appearance of laugh lines, marionette lines, and wrinkles around the corners of the mouth. When patients receive a follow-up treatment about four months after the first injection, the effects of the filler can last for up to 18 months.
Radiesse®
Patients who receive Radiesse® will notice immediate restoration of the skin's volume and shape. When injected, this calcium and water-based gel fills in lines, wrinkles, and facial folds, and results in a rejuvenated look. Radiesse® is unlike other injectables in that it encourages the body's own collagen production, and therefore continues to work even after a patient's office visit. Because of this unique characteristic, it is common for the effects of Radiesse® to last one year or more.
